Plan optional component inspection before ordering
Tell us which parts you want checked and what concern you want addressed. Optional third-party inspection is quoted separately, with the method, samples, fees, timing and report agreed before work begins.
Start with the question you need answered
Explain your concern and include the exact MPN, quantity and any available part or packaging information. A specific question is more useful than “test everything.”
Discuss checks that suit your need, such as appearance, markings, documents, imaging or electrical checks. The selected provider confirms which methods are suitable and available.
Agree the plan before testing
Review the proposal so you know what will be checked and what the report will contain.
| Item | What to agree |
|---|---|
| Parts and samples | Exact MPN, number of samples and identifiers |
| Method and criteria | The checks and requirements used to assess results |
| Provider | Who performs the work and any required qualifications |
| Sample handling | Selection, possible damage, return or disposal |
| Cost and timing | Fees, schedule and effect on dispatch |
| Report | Photos, observations, results and conclusions required |
Example inspection request
Sample wording using a fictional part number: “For selected samples of EXAMPLE-PART-001, compare visible markings with the supplied photographs, record the sample identifiers and differences, and quote the work separately.”
Replace this example with your actual parts and concern. Ask the provider to confirm the method and any limitations.
Review the results before the next step
Check which samples were examined, which methods were used and what the results show. Ask about anything that needs clarification before deciding whether to proceed with shipment.
Sampling covers the examined units, not every unit in a lot. Visual or document checks alone do not establish authenticity or electrical performance. Report examples may be shared where available and permitted.
